The recent screening of the Eswatini film \u2018BakaNgwane\u2019 at the Mpumalanga International Film Festival (MIFF) marked a significant milestone not only for the film\u2019s creators but also for the burgeoning film industry in Eswatini.<\/p>\n
Held over the weekend at Ster-Kinekor in i\u2019langa Mall, this event showcased the film to an enthusiastic audience, highlighting the growing interest in African cinema on an international platform.<\/p>\n
Director Sibusiso \u2018Sparks\u2019 Dlamini expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming response the film received during its screening.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are out of words. The atmosphere was warm and the audience was so welcoming. People were so eager to see the film,\u201d he remarked. The excitement was palpable, with attendees queuing up long before the film\u2019s 7 pm showing.<\/p>\n
According to Dlamini, by 5 pm, the cinema was already bustling with eager viewers, a testament to the film\u2019s anticipation.<\/p>\n
The screening was a full house, with Dlamini noting, \u201cIt was an overwhelming and humbling experience to see people from Eswatini and beyond love the project.<\/p>\n
\u201d The director also highlighted the joy of seeing the film\u2019s actors interact with the audience post-screening, further enhancing the communal atmosphere of the event.<\/p>\n
Dlamini was particularly moved by the support from emaSwati who travelled from Eswatini to South Africa to attend the screening. \u201cI would like to appreciate the support from emaSwati, who came from Eswatini to watch in Mpumalanga.<\/p>\n
It was amazing and I did not expect it,\u201d he said. However, the demand for the film exceeded expectations, as some attendees could not secure seats due to the cinema\u2019s capacity.<\/p>\n
\u201cMpumalanga people want the film again as the cinema was full and some couldn\u2019t watch the film. We are evaluating ways to bring the film to Mpumalanga,\u201d he added, indicating plans for future screenings.<\/p>\n
Being part of an international film festival is a significant achievement for Dlamini and his team. The exposure at MIFF has attracted attention from filmmakers and audiences in other countries, presenting opportunities for \u2018BakaNgwane\u2019 to be screened internationally.<\/p>\n

As he leads his people across the perilous Zambezi River, he must also navigate the ambitions of his daughter, iNkhosatana, adding layers of complexity to the narrative.<\/p>\n

At the helm of this remarkable production is Senator Pholile Shakantu, serving as the film\u2019s Executive Producer.<\/p>\n
