The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Manqoba Khumalo, yesterday toured the construction site of the Jonsson Workwear factory in Magidaneni Farm under Maseyisini Inkhundla to monitor progress on the multimillion Emalangeni investment.<\/p>\n
He was joined by Prince Mcwasho, Head of Operations at Construction Associates, the company that awarded the factory shell construction contract.<\/p>\n
The contract was valued at E185,810,580, making it one of the largest industrial construction projects currently underway in Eswatini.
The site visit was led by Merica Vilakati, Managing Director of Construction Associates, who presented a detailed progress report.<\/p>\n

Vilakati confirmed that the project is progressing according to schedule and in line with the planned specifications.<\/p>\n
Minister Khumalo said the government welcomed the investment by Jonsson Workwear, highlighting its potential to drive job creation, industrial growth, and economic diversification.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis project represents more than infrastructure; it reflects investor confidence in Eswatini and will create significant employment opportunities while boosting the country\u2019s manufacturing sector,\u201d Khumalo stated during the tour.<\/p>\n
Prince Mcwasho also reaffirmed Construction Associates\u2019 commitment to delivering the project to the highest standards and within the set timeframe.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade emphasised that investments such as the Jonsson Workwear facility align with the government\u2019s strategy to expand the industrial base, attract foreign direct investment, and strengthen Eswatini\u2019s competitiveness in the regional market.<\/p>\n
Once completed, the factory will serve as a major production hub for Jonsson Workwear, supporting both local and export markets.<\/p>\n
