{"id":4035,"date":"2025-09-25T11:52:14","date_gmt":"2025-09-25T09:52:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swazidailynews.com\/?p=4035"},"modified":"2025-09-25T11:52:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-25T09:52:14","slug":"pm-to-open-the-catholic-bishops-imbisa-golden-jubilee-conference-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/genesisekucalenimedia.com\/edn\/4035\/national\/pm-to-open-the-catholic-bishops-imbisa-golden-jubilee-conference-today\/","title":{"rendered":"PM to open the Catholic Bishops\u2019 IMBISA Golden Jubilee conference today"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Thokozani Mazibuko<\/p>\n<p>The Prime Minister Russell Dlamini is expected to open the IMBISA conference at Esibayeni Lodge.<\/p>\n<p>Eswatini has become the centre of Southern Africa\u2019s Catholic community as more than 120 Roman Catholic Bishops from across the region converge for the Inter-Regional Meeting of the Bishops of Southern Africa (IMBISA) mega conference.<\/p>\n<p>The gathering, which marks the 50th anniversary of IMBISA\u2019s Golden Jubilee, is being hosted in the kingdom for the first time in history.<\/p>\n<p>The high-profile event will officially open on Friday at Esibayeni Lodge, where Prime Minister Russell Mmiso is expected to deliver the keynote address.<\/p>\n<p>The conference is anticipated to draw attention not only for its religious significance but also for the role of the Catholic Church in shaping education, health, and social justice across the Southern African region.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking ahead of the celebrations, Father Ncamiso Vilakati, Media Liaison Officer of the Roman Catholic Church in Eswatini, described the event as both a historic and spiritual milestone for the country.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4040\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4040\" style=\"width: 1080px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4040\" src=\"https:\/\/genesisekucalenimedia.com\/edn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/PAGE-5-Catholic-Bishops.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"432\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4040\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Catholic Bishops<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis Golden Jubilee is not just about celebrating 50 years of IMBISA\u2019s existence, but also about reflecting on the journey of the Church in Southern Africa,\u201d Father Vilakati said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful that Eswatini was chosen as the host nation, and this provides an opportunity for Emaswati to experience the richness of the universal Church within our own borders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>IMBISA was founded in 1975 to strengthen collaboration among Catholic bishops in the Southern African region.
