{"id":5336,"date":"2025-11-06T11:29:53","date_gmt":"2025-11-06T09:29:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swazidailynews.com\/?p=5336"},"modified":"2025-11-06T11:29:53","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T09:29:53","slug":"hmcs-officers-praise-king-after-release-of-12-inmates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/genesisekucalenimedia.com\/edn\/5336\/future\/hmcs-officers-praise-king-after-release-of-12-inmates\/","title":{"rendered":"HMCS officers praise King after release of 12 Inmates"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Thokozani Mazibuko<\/p>\n<p>Several officers within His Majesty\u2019s Correctional Services (HMCS) have expressed gratitude and admiration towards His Majesty King Mswati III and the Commissioner General Phindile Lomakhosini Dlamini,<\/p>\n<p>following the release of 12 inmates under the royal pardon, including former Ngwempisi Member of Parliament Mthandeni Dube.<\/p>\n<p>The inmates 10 men and two women walked free from the Matsapha Correctional Centre earlier this week after being granted clemency as part of the King\u2019s exercise of mercy powers.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the Eswatini Daily News on condition of anonymity, correctional officers described the gesture as a \u201csign of compassion and progress\u201d within the country\u2019s justice and rehabilitation system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are so excited and thrilled to be led by the Commissioner General. She has completely embraced the concept of correctional services as a tool for transformation, not just punishment,\u201d said one officer, who has served in the department for over a decade.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5341\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5341\" style=\"width: 1340px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-5341\" src=\"https:\/\/genesisekucalenimedia.com\/edn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/PAGE-3-HMCS-COMGEN-Phindile-Lomakhosini-Dlamini--300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1340\" height=\"1005\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5341\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0HMCS COMGEN Phindile Lomakhosini Dlamini<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Another officer commended the monarch\u2019s decision, saying it reflected His Majesty\u2019s commitment to forgiveness and nation-building.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe King\u2019s mercy reminds us that everyone deserves a second chance. It also shows the world that Eswatini\u2019s correctional system is aligned with restorative justice,\u201d said the officer.<\/p>\n<p>A third officer noted that under Commissioner General Dlamini\u2019s leadership, the correctional institution has seen significant reforms aimed at rehabilitation, education, and reintegration of offenders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe COMGEN has been hands-on in ensuring that inmates leave our facilities as better citizens.
