{"id":5596,"date":"2025-11-12T11:07:48","date_gmt":"2025-11-12T09:07:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swazidailynews.com\/?p=5596"},"modified":"2025-11-12T11:07:48","modified_gmt":"2025-11-12T09:07:48","slug":"eswatini-taiwan-strengthen-economic-ties-with-visionary-partnership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/genesisekucalenimedia.com\/edn\/5596\/business\/eswatini-taiwan-strengthen-economic-ties-with-visionary-partnership\/","title":{"rendered":"Eswatini, Taiwan strengthen economic ties with visionary partnership"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Siphesihle Dlamini <br \/><br \/>Eswatini and Taiwan are forging a stronger economic partnership that promises to transform the Kingdom\u2019s development trajectory.<\/p>\n<p>At a high-profile business seminar held in Mbabane, Hilton Garden Inn in Mbabane on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, government and industry leaders unveiled plans for a groundbreaking Taiwan Innovation and Business Park in Phocweni, signalling a new era of collaboration focused on technology, manufacturing, and trade.<\/p>\n<p>Manqoba Khumalo, Minister for Commerce, Industry and Trade, delivered a keynote address that underscored the significance of this partnership and its transformative potential for Eswatini\u2019s economic landscape.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Khumalo opened his address by expressing his honour in speaking at the seminar and highlighted the multiple engagements between Eswatini and Taiwan this year, all aimed at fostering trade and investment.<\/p>\n<p>He praised the Government of the Republic of China Taiwan for its unwavering commitment to Eswatini\u2019s economic development agenda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe latest partnership has manifested in the form of the Taiwan Innovation and Business Park which will be built in Phocweni, an initiative that received the blessing of His Majesty King Mswati III earlier this year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>This Innovation and Business Park is poised to be a game-changer, providing Taiwanese companies with a strategic working space to access regional markets with ease from Eswatini.<\/p>\n<p>Khumalo emphasised that this project is part of Eswatini\u2019s broader ambition to become a manufacturing hub for the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the third mission we have received this year from Taiwan, and we are putting our efforts into turning these missions into real tangible projects for economic development,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The minister outlined several key sectors where opportunities abound for collaboration. He described Eswatini as offering a \u201cunique landscape for diverse economic activities,\u201d supported by a steadfast commitment to creating a conducive environment for trade.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5602\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5602\" style=\"width: 1291px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-5602\" src=\"https:\/\/genesisekucalenimedia.com\/edn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/PAGE-1-LEAD-PICTURE-Taiwans-Ambassador-to-Eswatini-H.E.-Jeremy-Liang-making-remarks-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1291\" height=\"1721\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5602\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Taiwan\u2019s Ambassador to Eswatini, H.E. Jeremy Liang making remarks.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He noted that various incentives for foreign investors would be detailed by the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority during the seminar.<br \/>Highlighting Taiwan\u2019s global leadership in technology and innovation, Minister Khumalo invited Taiwanese businesses to share their expertise and invest in Eswatini\u2019s growing industries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will not only boost our economy but also enhance technological advancement in Eswatini,\u201d he remarked. He also pointed to agriculture as the backbone of Eswatini\u2019s economy and expressed keen interest in collaborations in agro-processing technology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe strength that Taiwan has in the food processing and packaging space deserves our attention, and hence we want to host companies in this area,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Tourism was another sector identified for growth through bilateral cooperation.
