{"id":7814,"date":"2026-06-05T03:10:30","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T03:10:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/genesisekucalenimedia.com\/edn\/?p=7814"},"modified":"2026-06-05T03:10:30","modified_gmt":"2026-06-05T03:10:30","slug":"ers-staff-to-receive-ai-training-under-new-uneswa-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/genesisekucalenimedia.com\/edn\/7814\/business\/ers-staff-to-receive-ai-training-under-new-uneswa-deal\/","title":{"rendered":"ERS staff to receive AI training under new UNESWA deal"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ezulwini &#8211;<\/strong> The Eswatini Revenue Service and the University of Eswatini signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday to advance artificial intelligence literacy and strengthen digital transformation within the tax authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The agreement will see UNESWA&#8217;s AI Academy deliver a specialised institutional AI training programme for ERS employees, equipping them with the skills and competencies needed to thrive in an increasingly AI-driven environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ERS Commissioner General said the partnership goes beyond a formal agreement, describing it as a strategic collaboration aimed at building AI capability, enhancing taxpayer service delivery and positioning the revenue service for a data-driven future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UNESWA Vice Chancellor Professor Justice M. Thwala welcomed the deal, saying it was a timely step in preparing institutions for the age of artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The risk is that the technology moves faster than the people&#8230; We are signing this agreement because the work of revenue administration is changing, and the people who do that work deserve to be properly prepared for that change,&#8221; Prof. Thwala said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He pointed to the need for training that equips employees with not only technical skills but also the ethics and governance required for responsible AI adoption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The UNESWA AI Academy, coordinated by Professor Motsa under the Faculty of Science and Engineering, will deliver a comprehensive AI Literacy Pathway tailored specifically to the unique workflows, data sensitivities and legal frameworks of revenue administration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Ezulwini &#8211;
